Mr Elia brings an impressive list of credentials to the E.J Whitten Board.

David Elia’s current responsibility is as Chief Executive Officer of one of Australia’s leading superannuation funds HOSTPLUS.  HOSTPLUS is the national industry superannuation Fund for workers and employers in the Hospitality, Tourism, Sports and Recreation Industry.  The Fund has in excess of $10 Billion in Funds under administration and 980,000 members.

David is also a Director of the leading men’s health not-for-profit charity, The E.J. Whitten Foundation, which is aimed at increasing the awareness of prostate cancer and raising funds for research into the disease. He is also a current Director of not for profit organisation, Fund Executives Association Ltd which is dedicated to supporting the professional development of leaders in the superannuation industry.

David’s career also spans previous employment with KPMG and Superpartners Pty Ltd (formerly Jacques Martin Industry).

He has extensive business experience in superannuation, finance, marketing, corporate and Fund governance, taxation, risk management, external and internal audit, corporate/strategic planning and implementation.

His career is overwhelmed by a raft of management and leadership awards and he possesses a broad range of business and personal skills developed over 20 years in business.  

David is a qualified chartered accountant in Australia and completed his degree in Economics at La Trobe University as well as a Post Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investments from the Financial Services Institute of Australia.

He is also a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has completed various business and management courses at Harvard Business School and Mt Eliza Business School.  David is also a member of professional associations AIST and ASFA. 

David is also a member of Victoria Golf Club, RACV Club and Richmond Football Club.
